Sewer Averaging
Every April, residential customers sewer rate is re-averaged using their consumption from January, February, and March. We use these months in particular as these are the months customers usually use the least amount of consumption (no watering, filling up pools, etc.). This hopefully gives us your most average monthly usage.
Your first 1000 gallons are covered by the base rate, which is determined by meter size.
Residential inside minimum monthly charge for the first 1000 gallons of water consumption is:
$33.06 for 1” meter and below, $43.64 for 1 ½” meter, $58.19 for 2” meter, $165.31 for 3” meter and $204.99 for 4” meter. There is a per 1000-gallon rate of $3.4925 for consumption used over the first 1000 gallons per unit.
Residential outside minimum monthly charge for the first 1000 gallons of water consumption is:
$52.00 for 1” meter and below, $65.46 for 1 ½” meter, $87.29 for 2” meter, $247.97 for 3” meter and $307.49 for 4” meter. There is a per 1000-gallon rate of $5.4136 for consumption used over the first 1000 gallons per unit.
Should you start service anytime after January, you will be charged the base rate until the next year when we can use the first three months consumption.
We start with the base rate for your meter size, then multiply the variable rate by your average consumption. For example, if a residential customer used 5620 gallons in January, 7860 gallons in February, and 9060 gallons in March, the formula would be as follows:

We do take leaks into account when adjusting. If you have had a leak adjustment in the months between January – March, we re-average accordingly prior to updating the averages. You can turn in a leak affidavit for sewer re-averaging only up until October 1st, the average will be recalculated using your consumption after the leak repair date, and the bills affected by the sewer average will be adjusted using this new average.
