Requirements

The City Clerk's Office is a statutory position required by state law and the City Charter. The City Clerk is appointed by the City Manager and confirmed by the City Council

The City Clerk’s Office believes in being responsive to all citizens with professional knowledge, enthusiasm, and timely service. The City Clerk's Office is serving the citizens of today and tomorrow while preserving the records of the past. 

Responsibilities

The City Clerk is responsible for: 

  • Administering all regular and special municipal elections in compliance with the Texas Election Code
  • Being the custodian of all official records of the city
  • Codification of City Ordinances
  • Handling the permitting for liquor, amplified soundsell and solicit and mobile roadside vendor
  • Preparing and posting City Council agendas, and attending all City Council meetings while keeping accurate records of the meetings
  • Providing information through open records requests
  • Records management
