Generator Permits

Information required for submittal:

• Apply for the Generator permit online in MyGov

• HOA Approval (if applicable)

• Site plan - shade or hatch in area where the generator will be constructed. Also show existing house and setback    dimensions from property lines.

• Show gas feed line

• Registered state master licensed plumber and electrician are required on the permit application.

• When altering a meter base, an exterior emergency or main disconnect will be required if one is not already existing, NEC 2020 Sec. 230.85

• When altering a meter base, Surge Protection Device will be required, as stated by the 2020 NEC Sec. 230.67

• NEC Sec. 445.18 (D) Requires an emergency shutdown device to be located at a ready accessible outdoor location, if generator is within sight and readily accessible, we can use the disconnect on the generator itself, must be shown on plans and be accessible at the time of inspection.

• Provide generator manufacture specifications

 

Contractor requirements:

• All Generator installers are required to be registered with the City of Denison and provide a registered Texas State Master Licensed Electrician and Plumber as sub-contractors on the permit application

• Once registered all project requests will be submitted through MYGOV and are subject to plan review
