Temporary or Promotional Signage

Signage advertising a business opening, going out of business or any other promotional signage require a permit to be issued before the signage is placed to ensure compliance with placement and size. Promotional signage may include flags, pennants, streamers, balloons, inflatable signs, and any other legal signs

Promotional signage is permitted four (4) times per year for a maximum of thirty (30) days non-consecutively. Grand Opening or closing signs have a forty-five (45) day period.

Garage Sale Signs

Garage sale signs do not require a permit. 

These signs may only be placed at the site of the sale. Signs may not be placed on street corners or in the right-of-way. 

Signs in violation are subject to removal by Code Compliance.

Illegal Signs

Illegal Signs can be any sign type that has been placed within the City which are prohibited by ordinance, these include signs in Right-of-Ways, on utility poles or trees . These signs may or may not be identified with a business name or phone number. Bandit signs and directional signs are examples of Illegal Signs

Code Compliance will remove these signs when observed without any notification. Signs are held for 72 hours and then disposed of properly.

Political Signs

Political Signs are signs (1) relating to the election of a person to a public office, (2) relating to a political party, (3) relating to a matter to be voted upon at an election called by a public body, or (4) containing primarily a political message.

Political Signs may be placed within 90 days of an election and removed within 10 days after the election. 

Signs may not be placed within City right-of-way. Right of way is the area between the street and sidewalk or if no sidewalk approx. 10 foot from the roadway.
