The General Election for City council for the City of Denison will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, for Single Member District, Place 3, and At Large, Place 5. Applications for placement on the ballot will be accepted starting Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at 8:00 a.m. and will run through 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 13, 2026. Application packets for candidates will be available for pick up at the City Clerk's Office located at 300 W. Main Street, Denison, Texas, starting at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, January 5, 2026.
Candidate Eligibility
In accordance with the standard eligibility requirements for a city office, a candidate must:
- Be a United States citizen.
- Be 18 years of age or older on the first day of the term to be filled at the election.
- Have not been determined by a final judgment of a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be: (A) totally mentally incapacitated; or (B) partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote.
- Have not been finally convicted of a felony from which the person has not been pardoned or otherwise released from the resulting disabilities.
- Have resided continuously in the state for 12 months and in the City for 6 months immediately preceding the deadline for filing an application for a place on the ballot.
- If running for a Single Member District (Places 1 to 4), candidate must reside and have resided in that district for 6 months immediately preceding the deadline for filing an application for a place on the ballot.
- On the date described in 5. above, be registered to vote in the territory from which the office is elected.
