Volunteer Needs

Volunteer for Denison Main Street

Star Volunteer Program

Main Street is a volunteer-based organization. A limited staff means limited accomplishments, but with the addition of volunteers the opportunities are endless. The Star Volunteer Program was developed to demonstrate how rewarding and fun it can be to make a difference in your community. We love youth and welcome volunteering as a family.

You can be a star by sharing your time, talents, and skills to make Downtown Denison the Best it Can Be! By signing up, you are eligible for:

  • Annual volunteer recognition event
  • Breakfast events to mingle with other stars
  • Confirmation of hours contributed
  • Notifications of needs - Star Telegraph

Benefits

You will become part of a team of people dedicated to the revitalization of Downtown Denison. Throughout the year, this team will plan special events, meet with business owners, paint buildings and benches, pick up litter, raise funds, conduct meetings, take photographs, pour wine, help with a dog parade, do data entry, make connections in the community, clean up after an event, conduct business surveys, and just about anything else you can imagine.

Regardless of your skills, abilities, or time, we can use your help and you can be assured that the work you do is valuable, needed, and truly appreciated. Youth are encouraged to use their volunteer service in college and on job applications. Adults are welcome to serve on committees or on an as-needed basis.

Four-Point Approach

Denison Main Street is set up to follow the Four-Point Approach, which includes the following:

  • Design
  • Economic Restructuring
  • Organization
  • Promotion

Volunteerism with Denison Main Street is an opportunity to make new friends, reconnect with old ones, and have plenty of fun - all while making a real, positive difference in downtown Denison.
