Health Insurance

The City of Denison provides medical insurance for all permanent full-time employees. The current provider is Cigna Local Plus. The City pays $525 per month towards the cost of each employee's plan. The City also contributes to a Health Reimbursement Account for employees to help with plan costs. Medical Insurance coverage begins on the 1st of the month 60 days following the date of hire. 

Early retirees will pay 190% of the insurance premiums for themselves and their dependents. In addition, there are pre-65 and post-65 plans available. 

Dental and Vision are also available to purchase for employees and their dependents.

 

Basic Life/Optional Life Insurance

A Basic Life amount of $20,000 dollars is provided by the City. Optional Life is based on the age of the employee and annual salary. The employee is responsible for the costs. Optional Life may be purchased in increments of one to five times annual salary with a $500,000 maximum.

 

Long Term Disability

Long term disability is provided to all permanent full-time employees. Should an employee become unable to work due to illness or disability, benefits may be paid up to 60% of their regular salary.

 

Accident/STD/Hospitalization

The City of Denison provides a variety of ancillary benefits for employees to elect at their discretion and expense. This includes accident, short-term disability, hospitalization, and a variety of other special coverages.
