Texas Warrant Round-Up

Beginning next week, the City of Denison Municipal Court and local law enforcement, including the Denison City Marshals, will participate in the Texas Warrant Round-Up.  The State of Texas allows a grace period before the Warrant Roundup begins.  Any citizen of Denison may come forward to square their debt and pay their fines without further penalties. But, once the roundup starts you can be arrested at any time or any place; including your home, at work or school. If you have an outstanding warrant in Denison, it's strongly advised to contact the Municipal Court and straighten out the warrant before the grace period ends.

During the grace period, the Court will offer a temporary Amnesty Program to allow violators with outstanding warrants to reduce their fines by donating cans of food and other non-perishable items to the City to be distributed to local food banks. Any violator with an arrest warrant and corresponding fine may bring ten (10) cans of food or other non-perishable items to the City for a $50 reduction in their fine owed, or may bring twenty (20) cans of food or other non-perishable items to the City for a $100 reduction in their fine owed. The temporary Amnesty Program will run from February 17, 2020 through the close of business on February 28, 2020. The City will accept donations during normal City business hours at the Municipal Court window during this time frame.

The best thing to do if you're on the warrant list is to come forward and satisfy the debt as soon as possible to clear your name. It's also advised to contact an attorney to act on your behalf. If you've forgotten to pay a ticket or appear for a court date, you may have an outstanding warrant in your name. In addition to risking arrest and jail time, anyone with an unpaid fine or warrant during the Texas Warrant Roundup, a hold can be placed on the renewal of your Driver License until the warrant is resolved.
