What to Expect When you Apply

Hiring Process

  • Application
    • Complete your online application. You must send, along with your application, a copy of your high school diploma or G.E.D, and a copy of your birth certificate. In order to receive five additional points on the examination for a passing grade, you must also send a copy of your DD214 (member‐4) showing an honorable discharge.
  • Written Examination
    • On your exam date you will be given a booklet containing multiple tests covering different subjects, to include Reading, Math, Writing, etc. You can purchase the study guide here
    • You must pass your written exam with a minimum score of 70 percent. If you do not pass your written exam, there will be no further processing. You are welcome to test again at a later date. 
  • Physical Agility Test
    • After passing your written exam, police applicants will then participate in a physical agility test.
    • The department utilizes the Concept 2 rowing 2000-meter fitness test.  The resistance setting shall be set to “5” for all assessments.  Click here to calculate your required completion time for the 2000-meter test. **Note the percentage will be at 50%**
