Firearm Safety

By partnering with our community, it will be safer!

Firearms are involved in 1.4 percent of unintentional fatalities among children in the United States. The Denison Police Department in association with Project ChildSafe wants to make 2021 a safer one for our children and our families with our gun safe program. Denison residents can pick up a free gun safety lock from the Denison Police Department between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

The department urges families to help protect their loved ones and preventing unauthorized people from accessing a firearm kept at home. Along with firearm safety courses, the best prevention is using a gun safety lock. “Our community can help us protect their families in one easy step”, said Chief Gudgel.  “These gun safety locks are free and are proven to help prevent tragedies.”
