Citizens Police Academy

Do you ever wonder what a day in the life of an officer would be like?

The Denison Citizens Police Academy is designed to build understanding between citizens and the Law Enforcement Officers who serve them. This is a FREE 12-week academy with a graduation ceremony during the last week.

It is the goal of the department to increase police/community relationships and police awareness, as well as dispel suspicions and misconceptions of Law Enforcement.  The classes will cover different divisions within the department and are taught by officers and detectives that are directly involved in that division.

Some of the topics covered could include:

  • Patrol
  • K-9
  • Criminal Investigations Division
  • Firearms
  • Communication Operations
  • Juvenile Law

The class is open to anyone at least 18 years old, who has a Denison address or works in the City of Denison and can pass a background investigation.

Enrollment into the Denison Citizens Police Academy is held two times a year, Spring and Fall.
