Citizenship
You must be a U.S. citizen at the time of your application.
Health, Physical, and Psychological
- Vision must be correctable to 20/20
- You must pass a physical examination and drug screen
- You must pass a psychological examination
Certification
You must meet all legal requirements for future licensing and certification required by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE). For a complete listing of the state’s licensing requirements please visit TCOLE.
Criminal History
You are not eligible for the application process if:
o You have had any Class B Misdemeanors (within the previous ten years)
o You have had any Class A Misdemeanors or Felony offenses within your lifetime
o You have been convicted in any court of an offense involving family violence as defined under Chapter 71, Texas Family Code
Offenses from other states will be related to comparable Texas State Statutes.
