Striving for excellence, the  Denison Fire Department seeks to recruit only the most highly skilled and motivated candidates for the challenging position of firefighter/paramedic.

Before being eligible for employment, an individual must successfully complete the firefighter entrance level test. To find out when the next testing will be, contact                       our Personnel  Director at (903) 464-4449. The results of the test are good for one year.
Physical Agility
Applicant Requirements
In order to test and apply:
  • All candidates are required to have a valid driver's license, a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent certification, and be at least 18 - 35 years old  
  • Applicants will need to be Firefighter/EMT-B certified before the civil service entrance exam 
  • Applicants will need to pass a written test, physical agility test, oral board, medical examination, drug screen, and vision test
  • Applicants will be subject to and extensive public safety background check
