Satellite Dishes

Permit Requirements for Satellite Dishes
Permits for small satellite dishes used by providers such as DirectTV or Dish Network are not required.

Larger satellite dishes that exceed 5 feet (5') in diameter may require a permit if installed on the roof of a building or on a separate pole. Plan review will be required and engineered documents may also be required based on the size and weight of the dish and where it will be located. The purpose of this requirement will be to minimize the possibility of damage to the roof structure because of the weight and stresses caused by windloads exerted on the dish.
